After its thoroughly successful trial run in 2016, Fields Forward has now purchased a movable fruit and vegetable press that has more than proven it's worth.
The Kootenay Mobile Fruit & Vegetable Press is a single-unit industry press that processes, pasteurizes and packages up to 1,500 litres daily of juice from culled fruit and vegetables. This movable equipment can also produce fruit-based products like vinegar, soups, sauces, purees, blended beverages, and pellet stove fuels to help food producers realize sales in off-season months.
What’s more, the press has made a significant impact on food waste in the region, where an estimated 40,000 tonnes of imperfect but edible cherries are usually sent to the landfill every year.
